Intensive Outpatient Program

What is DeSoto Intensive Outpatient Program?

DeSoto Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a treatment program used to address addictions, depression, co- occurring substance use, mood, and anxiety disorders. We are here to help focus on making positive behavior changes, and other dependencies that do not require detoxification or round- the- clock supervision. DeSoto IOP is an important aspect of care for people seeking help overcoming addiction and other behavioral issues. The patient is getting treatment but able to reside at home. The following levels of treatment for issues with addiction are:

  • Level 0.5 early intervention
  • Level 1.0 outpatient services
  • Level 2.0 intensive outpatient services

Patients usually visit our facility three to four times per week, often for three hours at a time. According to (SAMHSA)Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, most programs require 9 hours of participation per week. IOP provides a higher level of care than standard outpatient programs, and this means time spent in treatment each week.

We believe when starting treatment, it should not be challenging or confusing experience. Programming at DeSoto is developed around helping identify patterns of behavior.

Groups meet Monday – Thursday 9-12 to help develop skills to:

  • Become more attuned and aware
  • Cope with life’s stressors
  • Achieve a better understanding of yourself and your relationships bymaintaining a healthy, more balanced life.

Participation in a group offers support in variety of ways.

  • Enhancing communication skills and providing new resources for socialization is often with others who use drugs and alcohol.
  • Access to an environment where people in similar situations provide support, comfort, and honest feedback.
  • Reinforcing healthful ways of interacting and providing a safe space that is vital to recovery efforts.
  • It provides a forum for therapist and group leaders to pass on important information and teach new skills.
Group can be a place to witness more positive behaviors associated with recovery and to practice new modes of dealing with addition.
