Admissions - General Information

The Admissions department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is located at the main entrance of the hospital.

All adult patients will be given information on living wills and advance directives. In Louisiana, living wills and other advance directives help patients to retain control when they become seriously ill or unable to communicate by recording their preferences for medical care in advance.

DeSoto Regional Health System does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, handicap, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age in admission or access to treatment or employment in its programs and activities. The Administrative Management Team has been designated to coordinate efforts to comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of handicap.

Clergy Policy

Visits by clergymen are not restricted. Upon request, a nurse will be happy to assist you in calling the clergyman of your choice.

Dietary

The diet prescribed by your doctor is very important. Please check with the nursing staff before bringing any food or drinks to your room. For visitors and families of patients, there are the hospital cafeteria and vending machines.

The cafeteria hours are posted near the Cafe' entrance and can be found under Dietary & Cafeteria under the Services section of this website.  Refreshments and snacks are available 24 hours a day at the vending machines.

Financial Arrangements

At the time of your admission, it will be necessary to make satisfactory arrangements for payment of your hospitalization. If you have no insurance, or have limited coverage, you will be expected to make a cash deposit. If you see difficulty in paying your bill, please contact our business office manager prior to admission and make any necessary arrangements.

Insurance Information

If you have insurance, please bring your membership card with you at the time of admission. Patients who are eligible for Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal, state or local assistance programs should present their membership cards and/or proof of eligibility upon admission.

Medicare patients are responsible for the deductible portions of their Medicare coverage.

Your hospitalization coverage is a contract between you and your insurance company. We will cooperate to the fullest in expediting your claims; however, you are ultimately responsible for your account. Hospital insurance plans often do not provide full coverage, including private room difference, and you are expected to pay any difference between the coverage and your total bill.

Visitors Information

Rest is an important part of your treatment. We want you to have visitors, but it is our responsibility to see you receive the best care and rest, both of which will enhance a speedy recovery.

Please observe the following suggestions:

  • Only two visitors should visit a patient at one time.
  • Limit visits to 15 minutes to avoid tiring patients.
  • No smoking in the hospital.
  • If you feel ill or have a cold, please do not visit the hospital.
  • Do not handle equipment in patient rooms.
  • An adult must stay with a hospitalized child at all times.
  • When a patient is in critical condition or requires someone at bed side, a member of the family will be allowed to stay.
  • Keep noise in the hallways and patient rooms to a minimum so as not to disturb other patients.

Thank you!
